Since 2017, the UI Design Master at Innovation School has been the first Italian course focused on the design of visual user interfaces. Starting from the 3rd edition, I joined scientific coordinator as part of the faculty, following students through their project work.
After 15 editions spanning 7 years and more than 800 students, we decided to share our process and insights on how we structured and refined this activity over time, why it’s fundamental in UI design education, and how it has helped us meet our students’ expectations.
What is a Project Work?
It is a hands-on activity where students apply the knowledge acquired during the master’s course. It serves as a bridge between theory and professional practice, simulating the real-life process of a UI Designer, and it involves tasks such as research, analysis, and creative ideation, until the final mockup of a digital product.
